ISDN Layer 2 Problem

Hello! I'm trying to configure a ISDN backup link on a Cisco. Each time I reset the BRI it takes about 15 seconds until the session will be terminated from the Swisscom's side. Call out is only possible (but working) during this 15 second time frame. Layer 1 is activated permanently since several years and working OK. Anyone here who knows a magic keyword in IOS to disable the need for a permanent Layer 2 connection? Thanks! This was once an issue some time ago... Should not be anymore...We use 837's without Layer 2 permanently on. Hmm, yep, I would try another IOS,we use 12.2.13ZH2, although this one has an issue with NAT of PPTP sessions, but who's using PPTP ;-) I also tested 12.3(8)T4 which also gives no problem... If you should still have a problem after that, you still can ask Swisscom to keep layer 2 up. If you do a cle int bri xy, then it's a normal behaviour. It will take some time until the remote receives the disc from main-site. ISDN-Layer-2 has not to be up all the time. It's only up (MULTIPLE_FRAME_ESTABLISHED) if a call is established. Is your isdn-router connected directly to an NT or behind A pbx ? (what type of pbx) Markus

Hmm, strange... I mean it's normal that L2 deactivates... But the router should activate again (renegotiate TEI) if another call takes place (and yours is not) And in debug output, nothing seems to happen. Looks to me at he first glance as a local problem to the router... Everything works fine. In the second case, I reset the interface and wait for the disconnect of Layer 2. Then I trigger the dial-out which wont work. What is the debugging output (or error message) if you try to establish a call?
