Rack mounting Switch/Routers in Cold and Hot Isle DC

Hi I'm interested, how swinog members mount their (switch/router/firewall) equipment in a hot/cold isle environment. In theory, one should mount the switches/routers in front (toward cold isle) of the rack to have an optimal airflow, but then cabling get a little bit messy. If this type of equipment is mounted in the back (toward hot isle), the cabling can be done much cleaner, but the airflow isn't optimal and in worst case, switches and routes take in hot air from other devices. How to you solve this issue? Thanks for you valuable input. Hi Patrick, In many datacenter switches, at least the good ones, you can choose the fan direction (front-to-back or back-to-front) and this solve this problem. The survey will be kept confidential and I have no intention to publicize the results to a broader audience. If there is no abstention I like to summarize the findings anonymously and post it to the Swinog ML. Motivation: At a project meeting the claim came up, that all Swiss ISP disconnect their customers at the same time. I think that is a rather bold claim and I would like to disproof or justify the stated claim with a small survey. Questions: - Do all Clients get a public IPv4 Address? - Do you disconnect your xDSL, Fiber, Docsis client connections? -- At a certain Time, after a certain interval, or never? -- How long is your average disconnect? -- Are business clients disconnected as well? - During the disconnect. Do you refurbish IPv4 Addresses or does the client keep his address? -- Do you use the same procedures with IPv6 Addresses? mobile providers with IPv6 in switzerland?

Hi, preparing myself for the panel discussion on Silvia's IPv6 conference next week, I wonder if there are any mobile providers in Switzerland that are offering IPv6 connectivity today - and if yes, which flavor (single-stack IPv6 with NAT64/DNS64 like TMO USA, or dual-stack v4+v6 with v4 CGN like T-Mobile DE), and whether it's default-on for anything yet... thanks :-) Gert Doering -- NetMaster -- have you enabled IPv6 on something today...?
